About the beer

Vetra is an artisanal brewery from Milan that reinterprets European classics with an Italian perspective. Vetra Pils, at 4.9% ABV, is their personal take on the Pilsner style: a meeting between German malt tradition and an herbaceous edge that defines the product.

The recipe uses water, barley malt—primarily Pils malt with a touch of Cara Hell—Perle and Spalter Select hops, and bottom-fermenting yeast. The result is a light-bodied lager with lively carbonation and a clean bitterness, featuring a crisp, dry finish that invites the next sip.

The beer was distinguished as a "Birra Imperdibile" in the 2021 Guide to the Beers of Italy by Slow Food Editore and received bronze in the German-Style Kellerpils category at the 2022 European Beer Star.

Pairing: the subtle bitterness and high carbonation make this Pilsner a natural palate cleanser for fried snacks, such as rissóis (meat croquettes) or peixinhos da horta (tempura green beans)—the carbonation cuts through the fat and refreshes the palate with every bite. By affinity, it pairs well with grilled or baked fish, whose delicate flavor is not overshadowed by the beer’s light profile. By contrast, it also pairs with mild soft cheeses, balancing their creaminess with its dry finish. It also works as an informal aperitif before a meal, preparing the palate.
