About the beer

Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a mixed-fermentation beer that is the result of a perfect blend of Oud Bruin and pale beer that has been aged for a year and a half with cherries – each hectolitre contains up to 13 kilograms of fruit! This allows the sweet and sour flavour to develop and refine. This luxurious beer represents the perfect marriage between fresh notes and the slightly sweet taste of cherries.

Liefmans Kriek-Brut has a deep ruby-brown colour and a refined head of foam, with a bouquet featuring notes of wood and almond. On the palate, you will clearly perceive the slightly sweet and slightly sour nature of the fruit. Without a doubt, an elegant beer.

The history of Liefmans Brewery dates back to 1679. Around 1750, brewer Jacobus Liefmans chose the fertile lands of Oudenaarde to house his brewery. Here, the banks of the river Scheldt provide natural nourishment for beer production. More recently, Liefmans flourished thanks to the talents of master brewer Rosa Merckx. As the first – and for many years also the only – female master brewer, she added finesse and enthusiasm to Belgian beer culture throughout her 46 years of activity. Even today, we can savour the taste of that passion!
