La Rosa Stout 33 cl

ABV: 7.0%

La Rosa Stout & Port wine! This beer is strong and its color is dark and intense, just as a Stout should be, but with a twist. On the palate, it is dense and smoky, with wonderful hints of chocolate and caramel, as one would expect from a Stout, but it surprises with bright notes of cherry liqueur provided by the addition of La Rosa LBV 2017 Port. Excellent with grilled meats, strong and salty cheeses, and dark chocolate desserts. As the English say: “it’s a proper treat”. Enjoy!

About the beer

La Rosa Stout is a craft beer faithful to its style, dark and intense with the twist of added Port wine; the 2023 edition features a 2017 LBV. The wine notes and liqueur-like palate make it even more special. The smoky aromas and hints of chocolate and caramel create a unique mouthfeel.

Technical notes
The beer is produced in small 1,200-litre batches at the La Rosa Winery in Sabrosa. The roasted malts are milled on-site before being added to a Crisp Maris Otter base, which gives La Rosa Stout its wonderful depth and full body. Warrior hops are used at the start of the boil for a rounder bitterness. The unfiltered beer then undergoes a clarification process, a cold crash, to maintain all its freshness. Due to the artisanal nature of this beer, some variations may occur between batches.

Brief explanation
In Stouts, malts can feel thicker in the mouth than in other beers and often have a velvety foam. Oats provide a smoother sensation.

A cold crash is essentially the process of rapidly reducing the beer's temperature after the fermentation period, ensuring that yeast and proteins settle and leave the beer with a clear appearance.

La Rosa Stout & Co.
It is such a rich and interesting beer that it could accompany an entire meal; La Rosa's toasted palate pairs well with savoury dishes, so we recommend starting with Ria Formosa oysters and following with a perfectly cooked Tomahawk, finishing with a chocolate dessert, which it complements very well, or a tasty blueberry and vanilla tart. The vanilla will accentuate the beer's sweetness and the fruit will provide a great contrast. Strong cheeses like gorgonzola or parmesan also make an excellent match with La Rosa Stout.
