Erdinger Dunkel is the benchmark for the Dunkel Weissbier category, owing solely to its excellence and complexity. Created in 1989, it was a tailor-made gift for the owner of Erdinger Weissbräu, Mr. Werner Brombach, on the occasion of his fiftieth birthday—so well-appreciated and received that he decided to share it with all Weissbier enthusiasts ever since. From the first sip, the magnitude of the selected roasted wheat and barley malts is revealed without reservation. A vibrant carbonation works the palate, and the traditional Erdinger yeast emphasizes the top-fermentation that balances the roasted, enveloping flavors, with a final aftertaste of dark chocolate, dried plums, and rustic bread.

Founded in 1886 in the Bavaria region by Johann Kienle, Erdinger Weissbräu began its successful journey as a producer of "weizenbier" – weizen (=wheat) bier (beer). The Brombach family was the primary driving force behind the brewery as we know it today. Mr. Franz Brombach took over the brewery in 1950, passing his legacy to his son in 1975. To this day, Mr. Werner Brombach manages his brewery so that the tradition, quality, and notoriety associated with the Erdinger brand remain intact in the more than 70 countries where it is present.
