Chimay Red 33 cl
ABV: 7.0%
The first Chimay! Chimay Rouge was the first Chimay to be produced at the Notre-Dame de Scourmont Abbey in Chimay. With a beautiful copper-brown colour, it generously combines fruity flavours with toasted notes and a hint of sweet caramel. It is a strong beer that pairs beautifully with semi-hard cheeses and game dishes.

About the beer
The history of Chimay began in 1850 when the priest of Virelles, Father Jean-Baptiste Jourdain, and the Prince of Chimay, Joseph de Riquet de Caraman, entrusted a mission to a small group of monks from Westvleteren: to take up residence on the Scourmont plateau with the goal, then as now, of "supporting the Chimay region." To this end, they decided to brew beer using the abundant water available on the marshy plateau; the first batch was produced in 1862. Later, they also began producing cheese, which is, incidentally, the perfect match for Chimay. The brewing knowledge has been passed down from generation to generation to ensure that the principles of Chimay are always respected. Today, it is one of the 5 Belgian breweries that can display the "Authentic Trappist Product" label. We highly recommend a visit to the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Scourmont.
