About the beer

Ettal Abbey was founded in 1330 by Emperor Louis IV, known as the Bavarian. During the 15th and 16th centuries, the monastery had a brewery in the village of Oberammergau in Upper Bavaria. The brewery was established at Ettal Abbey in 1609, where it has been producing Benediktiner Weissbier for over 400 years.
