Gulden Draak Classic 75 cl

ABV: 10.5%

The golden dragon beer classic! The award-winning Gulden Draak is a 10.5% ABV double-fermentation beer, which uses wine yeast, giving it a unique flavour. The palate is complex, balancing caramel sweetness, toasted malts, and coffee notes with hints of hops very well. Produced by Brouwerij Van Steenberge in Ertvelde, East Flanders, its name is a tribute to the golden dragon atop the Ghent belfry, a UNESCO World Heritage site. An exceptional beer.

About the beer

Like the dragon atop the city, Gulden Draak has been one of the best beers in the world for years. It is a dark tripel, which in itself makes it an exceptional beer, but its complex flavor with notes of caramel, roasted malt, and coffee makes it unique. In short, the beer is worthy of its name. A wine yeast is used for secondary fermentation, which is decisive for its unique flavor and ensures long-term taste evolution (= living beer). The longer it ages, the more aromas it gains and the fuller the flavor and color become. Therefore, it is worth keeping a few (or many!) bottles for many years!

Gulden Draak is easy to drink as an aperitif, for dessert, or whenever you have time to enjoy it. This “barley wine” pairs perfectly with stews, the typical Ghent style in particular. It is used in red meat sauces such as bordelaise and is ideal for desserts, especially those with dark chocolate.
