About the beer

BRUGGE Tripel: History and mystery in liquid form!
Brugge Tripel is an authentic Belgian tripel beer that carries with it over five centuries of brewing tradition from Bruges.
Produced by the historic De Gouden Boom (The Golden Tree) in Bruges, this golden-colored beer with 8.7% ABV holds an ancestral secret: ‘gruut’, a mysterious blend of herbs and spices that gives it a unique and complex aromatic profile.

In its 33cl version, you will find a perfect serving of this golden tripel, naturally carbonated in the bottle. Its intense and bitter profile, typical of the style, is balanced by the aromatic complexity of the traditional Bruges ‘gruut’.

If you want to know more:
BRUGGE Tripel undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle. During bottling, an amount of sugar and yeast is added, which ferments in the ‘warm room’, turning into alcohol and carbon dioxide. For this reason, BRUGGE Tripel has a high carbon dioxide content that adds extra flavor to the beer. The yeast residue at the bottom of the bottle protects the beer against oxidation and, consequently, against rapid flavor aging. Due to the presence of the yeast, the flavors continue to evolve over time. This is also why BRUGGE Tripel is a true beer to lay down for years.

The beer's secret lies in the unique composition of the ‘gruut’ herb blend, which enriches its flavor and aroma. In Bruges, anyone who brewed beer was required to use a ‘gruut’ and purchase it from the municipal spice house, called ‘Gruuthuse’. Jan van Brugge and his descendants, who were later called Van Gruuthuse, held the monopoly on the sale of Bruges ‘gruut’ until the end of the 16th century. At the same time, taxes were collected on behalf of the Count of Flanders. In BRUGGE Tripel, the medieval tradition of ‘gruut’ continues to be followed to this day.

This beer is history in liquid form, perfect for Belgian tripel enthusiasts who seek authenticity and complexity in their beer discoveries.
