On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Brewers' Association and the 14th Toer de Geuze, HORAL members created the HORAL Megablend 2022. This is the 8th consecutive Megablend, consisting of 29,300 bottles filled with lambic from all 11 HORAL members – Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Den Herberg, Hanssens, Lambiek Fabriek, Lindemans, Mort Subite, Oud Beersel, Tilquin, and Timmermans. The exterior is printed with a festive tricolor design; on the front, you will find the HORAL logo, the names of all the producers, the date 1997-2022, a banner with the number 25, and the “European Traditional Speciality Guaranteed” seal.

About the beer
HORAL – Hoge Raad voor Ambachtelijke Lambikbieren (High Council for Artisanal Lambic Beers) aims fundamentally to protect and promote lambic beers and their unique production process. It currently has 11 full members, which include the most renowned lambic breweries:
Megablend 2022
The beer comes in an attractive 75cl green bottle with a cork and cage. It has a coppery color and is hazy. In the aroma, you will sense tart apple, whole-wheat biscuits, and floral notes. On the palate, the apple gives way to lemon and biscuit, with delicate floral hop notes. Lemon dominates the finish, which also features malty biscuit touches and spicy, floral hops.
Origin of the Megablend
On the occasion of the 7th Toer de Geuze, HORAL members marked the moment with the launch of the HORAL Megablend 2009. Since then, HORAL has released a Megablend every two years. 16,000 numbered bottles of the 2009 Megablend were produced.
Valuable Bottles
The bottle with label number 00001 was auctioned via eBay. Takayuki Yamamoto, a geuze lover from Japan, placed the highest bid: 255 euros. It was the same geuze enthusiast from Tokyo who won the HORAL Megablend 2011 number 00001 for 315 euros. The 2009 and 2011 Megablends are blends of young and old lambic from eight HORAL members (3 Fonteinen, Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Hanssens, Lindemans, Oud Beersel, and Timmermans).
The HORAL Megablend 2013 with serial number 00001 was also auctioned via eBay. Erwin Cuyx, from Brussels, paid 381 euros for it. An absolute record. For the 2015 Megablend, a geuze enthusiast from Great Britain paid 300 euros for the first bottle.
The 2013, 2015, and 2017 Megablends are blends of lambic from 3 Fonteinen, Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Hanssens, Lindemans, Oud Beersel, Tilquin, and Timmermans.
The HORAL Oude Geuze Megablend 2019 is a blend of lambics from 8 producers (Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Hanssens, Lindemans, Oud Beersel, Tilquin, and Timmermans).
The Megablend 2021 is a blend of young and aged lambic from all HORAL members (Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Hanssens, Tilquin, Lambiek Fabriek, Lindemans, Mort Subite, Oud Beersel, and Timmermans).
