About the beer
Gouden Carolus Tripel is part of the iconic Gouden Carolus range of beers, which pays homage to Emperor Charles V, born in Mechelen, where the Het Anker brewery has been based since 1471. This Tripel style was originally developed by Trappist monks as a strong beer for internal consumption in monasteries, but Het Anker's recipe adds a contemporary touch while maintaining its historical essence.
Despite technological advances, this beer is produced according to centuries-old traditions, combining, as in the past, the best ingredients from the land, such as ripened barley and quality hops, to preserve the aroma as much as possible. Originally brewed for the Knights of the Golden Fleece in 1491, this beer has a graceful delicacy and a clean, refined taste. Bottle-conditioned, produced exclusively from pale malt, top-fermented, and 100% natural.
Tasting and Serving Notes:
With a full-bodied flavor that continues to quench thirst thanks to a balanced use of hops. For the best tasting experience, pour gently in one go at a temperature of about 7°C. This delicious golden beer is the right choice for those who appreciate a stronger, slightly spicy, and refreshing drink.
Pairing suggestions:
Pairs with fish dishes, white meats such as chicken, and spicy and seasoned dishes, as well as soft, fine cheeses. It also goes well with side dishes such as rosemary potatoes and, for a sweeter option, even creamy desserts or white chocolate truffles.
