About the beer

RODENBACH Alexander is produced at the RODENBACH brewery in Roeselare, in the province of West Flanders, the archetype of a Flemish Red Brown Ale, recognized as a regional product of the highest quality and tradition. It was first brewed in 1986 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Alexander Rodenbach and has recently returned to RODENBACH's core range of beers.

Rodenbach Alexander is a Cherry Ale, based on Rodenbach Grand Cru, which is arguably the most awarded beer in the world. It is the result of a mixed fermentation process consisting of 2/3 beer aged in oak casks for 24 months and 1/3 young beer, macerated with sour cherries. This extraordinary beer has a unique and balanced palate, a complex finish, and subtle notes of fruit and wood; it is undoubtedly one of the best sour ales RODENBACH has ever created. In the aftertaste, you will sense hints of Burgundy. Its freshness makes this Flanders Ale the perfect aperitif or accompaniment to foie gras, venison and pheasant, pastries, and yogurt ice cream.
