A love story
Surprisingly, or perhaps not - those who have been there will understand -, Oktoberfest has a love story at its origin! The first time this festival took place was
to celebrate the wedding of the future Bavarian king, Louis I, to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, in October 1810. Over the years, the celebrations grew, and 200 years later, more than 6 million people walk the streets of Munich. And one thing is for sure, many fall in love during these days of madness!!! During these festival days, there is singing and dancing for days on end and, of course, beer is drunk, lots of beer, with over 5 million liters consumed at this time.
The true Bavarian spirit
The Munich
Hofbräuhaus (HB) was founded in 1589 by Duke William V of Bavaria, with the goal of producing high-quality beer for the Bavarian court.
Throughout the centuries, HB has gained worldwide fame, especially due to its presence at Munich's Oktoberfest and its iconic pavilion right in the city center, which has become a tourist and cultural spot. Today, the Hofbräuhaus is a symbol of the Bavarian brewing tradition, combining history, quality, and hospitality.
The
HB Hofbräu Original is a certified specialty - PGI - a bottom-fermented beer that represents the true Bavarian character. It features a full-bodied and subtly spicy flavor, with a distinctive hop aroma that has made it world-renowned. A beer with character, produced according to the rigorous standards of the Munich brewing tradition.
As for the
HB Hofbräu Schwarze Weisse is an authentic German wheat beer with a unique character. Produced through an intensive infusion process with selected wheat, Munich, and pale barley malts, it offers a velvety and aromatic profile.
The pioneers of Weissbiers
And since we are in Bavaria, it is a must to visit
Schneider Weisse and get to know the Weissbiers of this centuries-old house. Each Schneider Weisse is the manifestation of the extraordinary mastery of Bavarian brewers in producing wheat beer: as each beer is nothing more and nothing less than an individual interpretation of a flavor adventure. Even so, it is tied to its Bavarian origins and the Purity Law (“Reinheitsgebot”).
The past of Schneider Weisse holds two fascinating stories: the first is intertwined with that of Duke Maximilian I and his rigorous commitment to the production and promotion of wheat beer, leading to the foundation of the first “Weisses Bräuhaus” in Kelheim – where the Schneider Weisse brewery is currently located. And another story that is, apparently, completely different, starts far from Kelheim and tells us about a family of brewers, the Schneiders. This family has passed down its precious heritage of experience and passion for beer over several generations and up to the present day.
Brewing excellent wheat beer was already the Schneiders' passion long before Weissbiers gained international recognition as an integral part of Bavaria’s identity and “savoir vivre”. Since Georg I. Schneider obtained the right to brew wheat beer in 1872 (the first commoner to receive this privilege), they have constantly created new wheat beer specialties, sometimes against all odds and conventions, regardless of trends and with persistent courage. The knowledge and experience acquired over generations are almost unparalleled in Bavaria, in Germany, and in the world!
At Syndicato, we present the
Schneider Weisse Hopfenweisse, which exceeds all expectations for a multifaceted wheat beer: hoppy but floral, bitter and full-bodied, and also with a sweet malt aroma.
Herbstfest
But beer is a reason for celebration, not only in Munich but all over Bavaria. And if you want to experience the true spirit of Bavaria, without the crowds of Oktoberfest, my advice is to go to Erding, the hometown of
ERDINGER Weissbier, and participate in this traditional beer celebration! In September, a kind of “mini Oktoberfest” takes place, called
Herbstfest, the Autumn Festival. This festival celebrates the grain harvests, namely wheat. These grains are then malted and used in the production of the region’s beers, such as the
Weissbier!

Erding dresses up for the party, and in addition to the flowers and banners scattered through the streets, you will find entire families dressed appropriately, the women in
dirndl and the men in
lederhosen. Once in Erding, you can also take the opportunity to visit the largest private brewery in the world, the Erdinger Weissbrau! Unfortunately, the city hasn’t hosted this festival for two years now, but... 2022 is just around the corner and next year will be the one!! (hopefully…).
A warm beer!
For this special occasion, ERDINGER Weissbräu produces a seasonal beer that is as warm as a Bavarian beer festival: the ERDINGER Oktoberfest. A specialty that whets the appetite for the famous song of the Bavarian beer festivals, "Prosit der Gemütlichkeit". Like the other beers in the range, the ERDINGER Oktoberfest is brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law.
Mood & Pairing
Around here, celebrate Autumn with friends or family, or all together! Weissbiers, and in particular the Erdinger Oktoberfest, make a perfect pairing with the famous Bretzel (Pretzel in NY), Pork Knuckle, and the typical German Sausage that cannot be missing from these parties!
At Syndicato, we have what is absolutely essential for an Oktoberfest or a “proper” Herbstfest: beer, glasses, and typical Bavarian mugs!
Prost!!!
